..."Sheikh Abdullah is supposed to be very popular and his association with Pandit Nehru has been regarded as sufficient guarantee of his being against any separate movement. Evidently his present stand appears to be capable of double interpretation and perhaps inconsistant with the policy of the States People's Conference and therefore contrary to Pandit Nehru's views on this matter.
Pandit Nehru has left for Kashmir this morning and it is hoped that this unfortunate and regrettable movement will end in an honourable settlement and restore peace and harmony in Kashmir."
