India Being Crippled

END POLITICS OF APPEASEMENT

By J.G. Arora

(Former Chief Commissioner of Income Tax)

India needs to take heed from what Winston Churchill once wisely quipped: “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last”.  India is being devoured bit by bit every day by its tormentors. Yet it continues to appease them mindlessly. Poisonous politics of appeasement has crippled India and ravaged its body and soul.

Representing the bitter harvest of this suicidal appeasement are: genocide and hounding of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu & Kashmir and making them refugees in their own country; frequent Pak-Bangla sponsored terrorist attacks on security forces, civilians and temples; continuation of Article 370 conferring a special status on Muslim majority J&K; infiltration of crores of Pak-Bangla nationals into India to create one more Islamic country on the Indian soil.

This hideous policy of appeasement started in 1921 when Mahatma Gandhi and the Congress Party supported the Indian Muslims’ demand for Khilafat, namely installation of the Sultan of Turkey as the Caliph. This, in turn, led to the Moplah rebellion in 1921 in Malabar in which thousands of innocent Hindus were massacred by the Muslims. All this when the Hindus had nothing to do with the British policy towards Turkey and its Caliphate.

Sir C. Sankaran Nair (1857-1934), a former judge of Madras High Court, has described the horrors of the Moplah rebellion in his book “Gandhi and Anarchy”.   Shockingly, however, Mahatma Gandhi reportedly described the Moplahs as “God fearing,” who “are fighting for what they consider as their religion, and in a manner they consider as religious.”

Persistent appeasement philosophy of the Congress led to the Muslim League demanding Pakistan for Muslims in March, 1940 and eventually to the creation of Pakistan in 1947, which triggered eviction of the Hindus and the Sikhs from present-day Pakistan and Bangladesh. Tragically, the same doctrine has guided the actions of successive Congress governments even after 1947.

Only a few illustrations of such countless actions may be recalled. The Congressss government passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Divorce) Act, 1986; to nullify the said judgment. government under Jawaharlal Nehru started the “Haj subsidy” for Muslims in 1959 even though such subsidy is wholly anti-secular. What is more, none of the 57 Muslim countries provide such subsidy, as it goes against the basic tenets of Islam. Muslims are expected to perform Haj on their own resources. Not just that. To placate Muslim uproar over the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Shah Bano case, the then Congre

Now the same Congress, which had rejected the vicious “communal award” in 1932 as vicious, is spearheading Muslim reservation in government jobs and also sharing power with the very same Muslim League that demanded and secured Pakistan. Besides, debunking the nation’s security after regaining power in 2004, the Congress government hastily repealed the Prevention of Terrorist Activities Act (POTA) the same way it had repealed the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) in 1995.  To please pro-Pakistan elements, the UPA government is even reportedly planning to withdraw the security forces from Kashmir.

However, the most vexatious outcome of this capitulation vis-à-vis the Muslims is the demographic and terrorist invasion of India. In their bid to demolish and dismember India, Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence, and its Bangladeshi counterpart are bent upon creating one more Islamic country on the Indian soil for which they have illegally smuggled crores of their nationals into India.

Mercifully, Sarbananda Sonowal, one of the leaders of AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) took the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration to the Supreme Court. By its judgment dated July 12, 2005, the Apex Court struck down the Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) Act, 1983 as “unconstitutional”. Furthermore, it termed Bangladeshi infiltration as “external aggression” and directed that “the Bangladesh nationals who have illegally crossed the border and have trespassed into Assam or are living in other parts of the country have no legal right of any kind to remain in India and they are liable to be deported.”

Thereupon, one hopefully looked forward to the deportation of the infiltrators. Instead, the UPA Government brought in the Foreigners (Tribunals for Assam) Order on Feb. 10, 2006 to nullify the Supreme Court’s judgment. Fortunately, the Supreme Court quashed this Order on December 5, 2006 as “illegal and unconstitutional” and called for a strict implementation of its earlier judgment dated July 12, 2005 “so as to ensure that illegal immigrants are sent out of this country.”

Despite the Supreme Court’s clear direction, no infiltrators have been deported by the government. Rather, thanks to the UPA Government’s policy of soft borders, Pak-Bangla nationals are continuing to infiltrate into India every day and changing the demographic map of various States in the country.

Even before those who perpetrated the 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai could be punished, Mumbai faced fresh strikes on July 11, 2006 in trains which claimed about two hundred lives. These attacks are in the long line of attacks India has suffered since Muhammad bin Qasim’s Arab army attacked in 711 due to the UPA Government’s terrorist-friendly approach.

Immediately after the Muslim League demanded Pakistan for the Muslims and exchange of population in March 1940, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar had much to say in his book “Thoughts on Pakistan”. He criticized the Congress policy of ‘appeasement’ of the Muslims and advocated the policy of ‘settlement’. As per Dr. Ambedkar, “appeasement” sets no limits to the demands of the aggressor. But “settlement” does. Besides, appeasement increases the aggressor’s aggression.

Accordingly, Dr. Ambedkar held that the creation of Pakistan as a “settlement” would end constant appeasement. As a part of the “settlement” of the Hindu-Muslim conflict, Dr. Ambedkar suggested that the partition of India be accompanied by an exchange of the Hindu-Muslim population.

Despite Dr. Ambedkar’s wise counsel against appeasement, the Congress kept on pursuing appeasement. It did not learn any lesson even when in the 1945-46 elections, the Muslims voted for the creation of Pakistan. Sadly, the Congress continues to cling to its policy of appeasement even after conceding Pakistan in 1947.

A large majority of Indian Muslims, who had demanded Pakistan for the Muslims and also advocated exchange of population following the creation of Pakistan, stayed back in IndiaPakistan. Yet the creation of Pakistan in 1947 should have led to a permanent settlement of the Hindu-Muslim problem in the sub-continent. Accordingly, appeasement should have ended. and did not go to

Because of its surrender and inaction, India is being taken over by crores of Pak-Bangla infiltrators silently. Besides, countless Pak-Bangla terrorists are stalking all over India to strike at the time and target of their choice. Two of the suspects in the recent Hyderabad blasts, according to the State authorities, are Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Since drastic situations demand drastic remedies, all nationalist organizations and individuals must come together and force the government to act as follows: (a) Terrorists must be crushed; not welcomed and embraced. Chanakya Neeti as also Sun-tzu’s Art of War and countless lessons of world history emphasize that the enemy must be crushed before he crushes you; (b) Infiltrators should be treated as invaders. And not as vote banks;

(C) Indian borders should be sealed and infiltrators prevented from entering India; (d) All Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangla road and rail journeys be discontinued; (e) The Supreme Court’s judgments must be implemented and crores of Pak-Bangla infiltrators detected and deported; (f) Pak-Bangla design to destroy India and create one more Islamic country on the Indian soil must be defeated.

Here it is relevant to quote once more Winston Churchill who deprecated as follows the then British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler’s Nazi Germany which led to the Second World War: “Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival”.

India, as I said at the outset, needs to take heed. Enough is enough. ---- INFA
